Cold disease to be treated with hot herbs and hot disease to be treated with cold herbs Postpartum women are considered cold after giving birth. In China new mothers are discouraged from eating or drinking cold food and taking a shower to lest to create additional chill. Warm food that has effect on her system for at least 30-40 days postpartum. Raw placenta will have a cooling effect on her system throwing her even more out of balance. Prepared or cooked placenta (hot herbs) steamed in preferable as it is the most gentle way to cook and retain the most nutrients in food.
